Supporting T-Level students in legal services

T-Levels are two-year technical qualifications for 16- to 19-year-olds, combining academic learning with substantial industry placements designed by employers. In 2025, we launched our pilot programme, offering placements to two students on the T-Level in Legal Services, first launched in 2023.

We are proud to be one of the only law firms actively supporting this initiative. By being an early adoptee, we are demonstrating our commitment to nurturing early talent, whilst establishing a strong pipeline for progression.

The students spend 20% of their working week at Womble Bond Dickinson, with the remainder of their time spent at college. Our role is to provide industry placements that give students meaningful exposure to a professional services environment. These placements are structured to help students build confidence, develop core employability skills, and understand how their learning applies in practice.

Whilst on the programme, we have been able to offer the T-Level students the opportunity to try five different placements across the firm to explore all aspects of a career in law. The students joined teams in Facilities, Responsible Business, Marketing and Communications, Planning, and Banking. Our teams benefit from the opportunity to support emerging talent and contribute directly to skills development at an early stage, ultimately helping to build our pipeline into apprenticeships such as the Level 7 Solicitor Apprenticeship.

The programme is due to finish in July 2026, and one student has already secured a full-time role in a law firm. She attributes our placement programme as giving her the confidence to apply for the role and for the firm to see her potential.

The programme has been an amazing opportunity. The placement has been well structured, giving me the chance to work with a variety of teams, and I’ve learned so much from each one. Everyone has been incredibly welcoming and supportive.

I have had an amazing experience while working with Womble Bond Dickinson. I have learnt so many new things about working in a professional setting and improved many of my own skills by exploring in different business and legal sectors. My T-Level experience has also been majorly beneficial. This is because while I have been learning classroom-based content like other courses, I also have had the opportunity to have a 315-hour work placement, and this will be great for future roles.
