Celebrating Ramadan and Eid: Fostering Community Spirit and Cultural Appreciation at WBD Reach
In March 2025, our Reach (race, ethnicity, and cultural heritage) Network hosted a special event to mark Ramadan in our London office. Colleagues gathered to share Iftar, the meal eaten after sunset to break the daily fast during Ramadan. The menu was thoughtfully curated to include foods from various Muslim cultures, reflecting the rich diversity within our community.
The event was attended by colleagues observing Ramadan and those who wanted to show their support. It was a wonderful opportunity for everyone to come together, share stories, and deepen their understanding of each other's beliefs and practices. This celebration also allowed us to support Muslim Heritage Month for the second consecutive year.
In Southampton, our Real Estate team celebrated Eid al-Fitr (the end of the month of Ramadan) and the end of our financial year with a team gathering. The celebration featured traditional Eid foods, including samosas and delightful sweets like baklava. Attendees were encouraged to bring a small dish to share, and people brought a variety of culinary dishes from different cultures, ranging from onion bhajis from Bangladesh to himisha from Eritrea.
We were delighted to successfully host these events for our colleagues for the first time, fostering a deeper appreciation for each other's beliefs and practices. We are grateful to everyone who joined us and made the events memorable.
“Ramadan is a time for spiritual growth, self-discipline, and empathy for those less fortunate. It also promotes community spirit and strengthens bonds. We are proud to have hosted these events, fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation for the diverse cultures within our community. Thank you to everyone who participated and made these celebrations special” - Nathalie Romain, Partner.
