METHODOLOGY

Our 2025 energy outlook is comprised of the insights of 1,351 energy suppliers, investors, and commercial consumers in 26 countries.

In previous years, our survey has primarily focused on responses from energy suppliers and investors. The percentages below may not sum to 100% as respondents could select multiple options, indicating involvement in multiple lines of business and/or locations.

This year, we have expanded our scope to include feedback from 645 commercial consumers, complementing the insights gathered from 616 energy suppliers and investors, as well as 90 consultants, researchers, and government regulators. This broadened perspective offers a more comprehensive view of the global energy landscape.

The transition to cleaner energy sources presents a multi-generational challenge, compounded by the need to meet increasing energy demands. This shift is having a far-reaching and significant impact across all sectors of the economy. Given the universal nature of this transformation, we believe that a more comprehensive approach to our survey is not only justified but essential.

Certain markets may feature fewer responses than others when it comes to the organization types and roles that were relevant to this global survey. This specifically pertains to senior-level energy company decision makers and energy investors as well as commercial consumers (who were required to have energy usage oversight) in the Asia-Pacific region (APAC), which recruited from Australia and Japan specifically, and from the Middle East, where responses from Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates combined to comprise the regional totals.
